- Sautee the onions on medium-high for 5 minutes, or until soft. Add the olive oil, ginger and garlic and cook for another 2 minutes. Add the turmeric and cook for another 3 minutes.
- Add the split peas and half of the water, bring to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the rest of the water, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 40 minutes or until the peas are soft. Add more water if necessary.
