- Combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt and baking powder and mix well.
- Cube the butter and work it into the dry mix with your finger tips until breadcrumby and no clumps of butter remain.
- Add the milk and 1 egg yolk and mix.
- Lightly mix in the chocolate chips.
- Shape the dough into squares, halve and layer the halves on top of each other. Repeat 2 times.
- Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Pre-heat the oven to 180┬░C.
- Roll out the dough to 3-4cm thickness and cut into the desired shapes. Transfer to a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Whisk together 1 egg yolk and a bit of milk and brish the scones with the mixture.
- Bake for 20 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and allow to cool completely.
